'tis the season

Well, it’s that time of year…. spring is upon us and people are emerging from their winter hibernation… but it’s not those summer carefree days quite yet – so what to do?  Well – it just happens to be the season for ….. fundraisers!  Yep, it’s that time of year, not that it ever really ends – it just seems there’s a lot going on right now.   Here are a few ideas.

First, there’s the St. Charles Humane Society’s Trivia Night this Friday, April 16th.  The SCHS is not affiliated with the state or national humane society, although people often think that they are. They rely entirely on contributions from local animal lovers and fundraising events like these.  They are also the only no-kill shelter in St. Charles County.

If you can’t make it to the SCHS Trivia Night this Friday, don’t fret as the Aussie Rescue of St. Louis is also hosting a Trivia Night on May 1st.  You can find out more here www.AussieRescueStLouis.com.  The proceeds help rescued Aussie’s (and other dogs too) all year ’round.  Many of the rescue groups work closely with shelters to try to get the breed they specialize in into foster homes.  It’s quite the undertaking and sadly many animals also need extreme medical help and these fundraisers assist foster families with these medical bills.

It just so happens that the St. Charles Humane Society also has a second fundraising event this spring called “Uncorked-A Cause for the Paws” and this will be at one of Missouri’s beautiful wineries in Defiance,MO on May 2nd.  You can find out more about both of their events at www.StCharlesHumaneSociety.org.

(I’m sure there are bunches more and if you know of them please feel free to leave info in the comments section.)

If you can make it to these or any other rescue or shelter group fundraiser – that would be great!  They all do such wonderful and extremely hard work.  I’ve contributed some gift certificates for silent auctions and will be attending the events that I can – I’ll definitely be at the Uncorked event – hope to see you there!
